As a child, Jemila’s mother had to beg her to stop reading. Holed up in her room until the wee hours of the night. Books provided an entry into boundless worlds. Jemila released her first book in 2021 titled ‘Radical Obedience: Commit to a Journey with God that you won't Regret’ and is now working on a historical fiction novel and several short films.

For over 15 years, she has pursued justice work in Ontario, Canada and globally through her work as a Social Worker and most recently her work at an anti-slavery organization that protects millions from violence.

Jemila is interested in how social justice and storytelling interconnect. She desires to assist writers who have been historically silenced, to share their stories that would otherwise remain untold.
